This interesting study was released by Hai-Anh H Dang a World Bank Researcher. He attempts to understand the benefits of private tutors in the developing world. His results show a clear benefit of private tutors as a means of uplifting and supporting grades for learners.

A compelling article and well worth the read. Unfortunately, it’s not focused on the private tutors benefits in South Africa specifically, however, the point is well made. Private tutors make a difference and help improve grades.
The micro evidence on private tutoring suggests that it generally improves student academic performance for the average tutored student. More limited evidence suggests that these improvements can be cost-effective.
